Diego F. Calderin, President and CEO of Anexinet, to Receive Information Technology Leadership Award from La Salle University, His Alma Mater

Diego F. Calderin, President & Chief Executive Officer of Anexinet Corp., will receive La Salle University's "Information Technology Leadership Award" on October 24 for his contributions to the field.

A 1983 graduate of La Salle, Calderin and his family left Cuba for the United States in 1961, with only $50. He earned a scholarship to La Salle and planned to study medicine - until a job at the University's computer center introduced him to information technology.

"Diego has been very active with the University in a number of capacities," said McCoey. "He's also been a leader and innovator in incorporating technology with business, and the CSC Advisory board felt he was quite deserving of this honor."

According to Margaret McCoey, a professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at La Salle, Calderin was nominated for the award based on his professional achievements in the IT field, and his many contributions to La Salle and the community.

In 1999, Calderin founded Acatar Inc., an Internet systems integration firm specializing in database re-purposing, electronic commerce and digital content integration solutions. In 2000, he co-founded Anexinet and merged Acatar to become a principal and CTO of a new firm combining professional services with technology consulting. As CTO, he authored Anexinet's systems development methodology and differentiating S.A.F.E.-T2 solutions delivery model. He created Anexinet's innovative concept for Near-Site Development Centers™, which improves the quality and time of business-technology service delivery by taking advantage of regional office space located within minutes of a client's location.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Calderin was recognized for the award for his contributions to his alma mater. He is Chairperson of the Integrated Science, Business and Technology (ISBT) Advisory Board at La Salle University, and was a contributing member of a board that helped plan and design the program.

When Calderin became President and COO of Anexinet in 2002, revenues doubled. Since assuming the roles of President and CEO in 2003, Anexinet has expanded from a Philadelphia-area firm with its opening of new offices to serve customers in the New York City metroplex (May 2004) and greater Washington, DC area (January 2005).

After graduating from La Salle, Calderin joined General Electric's (GE) Space Systems Division as a programmer while earning his Master of Engineering degree in Computer Design from Penn State University. In 1990, he was promoted to Systems Engineer, Critical Technologies and Project Methods. Recognized for his potential and drive, he attended leadership development classes at GE's Crotonville facility and later was accepted into GE's highly regarded Technical Leadership Development (TLDP) program. He also was elected Chairperson of the Hispanic Cultural Diversity Council representing employees throughout GE Missile & Defense Systems. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, Calderin left GE in 1992 to join Information Technologies Incorporated (ITI), a technology services startup.

At ITI, he earned promotions first to Director and then to Regional Manager, where he grew his region to $25 million in consulting and training revenues prior to the company's acquisition by Modis, Inc. in 1999. Following this acquisition, he was promoted to Vice President and Managing Director before leaving the company, then known as Actium/Modis, to pursue his goal of starting a consulting company from the ground up.
