The buzz around new developments in software has been clearly been in the consumer camp in the last couple of years.   Think Facebook, Groupon, Twitter, Zynga, Pandora, the list goes on.  Even in the realm of  iPad applications, the bread and butter for Propelics, consumer focused software has received all the buzz.

But enterprise software is quietly becoming sexy again.   A recent article by Box.net CEO Aaron Levie claims that sexy status has returned to enterprise software.

We might not be there yet, but Levie is on the right track.   In our estimation, enterprise software should, and soon will become sexy again.

As Levie rightly points out: Enterprises are “realizing the long overdue promise of the “mobile workforce,” thanks to sophisticated business applications that let them collaborate and communicate from mobile devices and the iPad.”

Workplaces continue to become increasingly virtual.  Sales and service professionals are interacting with customers more than ever.   These folks need new, easier, even sexier ways to communicate with their customers.  Enterprise focused sales and service iPad applications are an excellent tool for these new types of interaction.

Propelics predicts that in 2012 / 2013 enterprise software will be sexy again.
